This year the number of attendees was down on 2004, but still some 35 former students and staff of QEC attended the Annual Reunion.

Professor Martin Hughes in his talk was able to convey not only the spirit of QEC but also the high quality of the teaching and research that the Chemistry department undertook. He showed pictures from the Chemistry department handbook that was given to all new students and many a face was recognized. The good - no, fantastic - news is that he was able to give a copy of the handbook to the webmaster so pages will be appearing soon. Professor Hughes finished his talk by describing some of the research he has been involved in, especially his interest in NO.

Lunch was, as always, an opportunity to catch up on all the news and gossip. Duncan Steel was at a conference in Washington DC but came over just for the reunion, although now he is here in the UK he thought he might as well spend a week or so visiting friends and family before returning to Australia.

Elna Forsyth, Jane Middleton and Shirley Platt were all on the last Household and Social Science degree (Shirley studying Dietectics as well) and were celebrating 50 years since they graduated. Jane was President of the Students Union in 1954-55.

The AGM covered a number of topics, such as whether the Reunion would be better attended if it took place in the Summer, and was there any life left in the idea of a QEC Bursary, given than no-one had sent their thoughts to Ann Wood. But more of these later.

So another year, another reunion. Fewer people this year, but all determined to keep the spirit and name of Queen Elizabeth College alive. See you at the 2006 reunion!
