News of People 2007

Prof Howard Dalton FRS who was a Microbiology student at QEC in the mid 60s and also was our guest speaker in 2002, was awarded a KB (Knights Bachelor) in the New Year's Honours.  He's Professor in Biological Sciences at Warwick University but has been on secondment as Scientific Adviser to DEFRA for several years now - indeed he spoke about some of his trials and tribulations there as our guest speaker at the 2003 Annual Reunion! Ann Wood has written to him on behalf of herself and QECA with our congratulations.

We hear that Nancy Rothwell is to be given an Honorary degree by KCL this summer. Nancy was nominated by the Association Nov 2005 for a Fellowship of KCL.

We had some news of Nancy in 2005, and we have an article about her from the Kings Alumni magazine here (it is a 500kb .jpg file)

Mahen Weerasekera, who graduated from QEC in 1983 in Mathematics and Management would like to hear from any of his classmates. Mahen is now Chairman of City Developers International (Pvt) Ltd in Sri Lanka.
